abuse, chronic stress, and emotional trauma & developing auto-immune disease

the hypothesis.

if your body & mind is in a constant, prolonged state of stress or emotion distress — where your fight or flight response is continuously triggered —- when in an abusive environment or relationship; then, when leaving or becoming removed from the abuse they’ve endured, they become more susceptible to developing autoimmune disease or becoming immune compromised because without a signal or indicator to the body & mind to stop defending itself, it turns to ‘attacking’ the body’s immune system instead.
